Jeanie Marie Buss was born in the US. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently serves as its president. A California born Buss has been raised by an upper class family. The father of her Jerry Buss was a real-estate businessman who became proprietor of the Lakers and other businesses related to sports. After her parents split up in 1972, she was convinced that they'd abandoned her. She joined the family business at the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. She held the position of President of Great Western Forum prior to becoming vice-president for the Lakers. Buss and her siblings, five siblings and brothers as well as their father, who owned the Lakers and controlled them up to his death in 2013, took over this ownership through the trust. Each of them enjoyed the same the right to vote. Her duties were assumed as the president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also co-owns Women of Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion with headquarters at Los Angeles.
