Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born at Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz is her father, while Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder is a self-described Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. The actress also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sister is Uria. Ryder as well as her entire family moved to Mendocino County in California at the age of seven. Ryder was only seven years old. They didn't have electricity. There was no television books was her only source of entertainment to pass the time. Eventually, she was a voracious reader. Ryder began taking acting lessons at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged 12 years old. At the age of fifteen, she landed her first part onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder endured bullying while in highschool. Her performing career, she thought that it would aid her. However, it didn't come to pass. But she continued to chase her goals. She got her break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder kept playing successful roles in several movies. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
